On 20 May 2009, Sandra lost her footing on a wet, freshly mowed hill. She fractured her ankle in three places and disconnected a ligament. She had surgery on 3 June 2009 to install a plate and a bunch of screws, including one to put the ligament back into place.
The cast had been put on while her foot was swollen, so when the swelling went down it was uncomfortably loose. So she got that one taken off and a new one put on. The incisions seem to be healing nicely.
