Wines
My notes on various wines. For my own purposes, but if you find them useful,
then... umm... good for you.
- Turning Leaf 2007 Pinot Noir - Bought at Safeway for $8.99. From
Germany. This is proof that the Germans hate California wines. Or
perhaps they just hate people who like California wines. What Bud Lite is
to a good German beer, this wine is to Pinot Noir. What little taste it has
is dreadful. While it has a red-ish color, it seems faint. It seems like
they came up with a wine that wasn't strong enough and tasted terrible, so
cut their losses and added water and grain alcohol or something. (Last

- Avia 2007 Pinot Noir - The reason I picked this up is because it
was the cheapest Pinot Noir available able Safeway -- $6.99. The best thing
I can say about it is that it was worth it. It's not great, but it's
drinkable. It's from Slovenia (umm, WHERE?!?!). If this is their effort at a
cheap wine, it's probably worth paying attention to Slovenia in the future
as a wine exporter. It's not inteded to go well with the Filet Mignon, it's
to go with the spaghetti you're having because the kids have been brats all
day long. (Last updated 2008.11.30)
